A classic white button down shirt is an important piece in a woman’s wardrobe, especially in the summertime. The crisp, clean white shirt is as versatile as a little black dress and can be worn with anything from a three piece suit to frayed denim shorts. The long sleeved, high collared shirt is a modest piece that can easily be rolled up and unbuttoned to whatever point the individual feels best. I personally like to have a variety of white button down shirts in my closet: a crisp cotton, a soft silk for dressy events, and a more frayed version that works as a coverup to wear when lounging by the pool. While at first glance it’s certainly not the most interesting garment, it’s a great foundation to a fantastic outfit and incredibly fun to style and wear.

A Nautical Outfit ready for a Boat-ride

I recently wore a Reset Label white button down shirt loosely tucked into comfortable Japanese milled crepe trousers for a boat ride. The nautical outfit was dressy enough for the restaurant I was headed to, but not too overdressed for a small boat. I completed the outfit with an Etienne Aigner wicker Charlotte Mini Crossbody handbag with the Kate Stoltz Splash of Ink Silk Scarf . I’ve learned to always take a scarf with me to dinner- even in the midst of summer. A dinner on the dock by the water often become chilly after the sun sets, In addition, most restaurants turn the air-conditioning to temperatures comfortable for men dressed in three piece suits, leaving the ladies wishing for their own jacket or scarf.
